Manly Beach Circpan

In this image you can see the southern end of Manly Beach close to Shelly Beach. This end of the beach is protected from the southerly breezes and is a favourite for families and swimmers. It is a patrolled section of the beach with a strong surf life saving club. Manly is often seen as a day trip for many Sydney Siders living on the other side of the Harbour. the ideal trip is to take the ferry from Circular Quay across the harbour and heads. This image is part of a series that that I have been working towards for several years. During my Masters degree I was reading works by environmental author David Suzuki. He has ideas about small communities that resonated with me. I was trying to find a way to illustrate these ideas of working, living, growing food and learning within a small geographical area. In a way it is a positive insularity. After much trial and error I combined several existing techniques to create an original photographic approach that captures in amazing detail and clarity a panorama into a circular image. I call these images CircPan (circular panorama). The images have the look of an aerial photograph, in this case shot from a boat moored off the beach. They are a unique approach to landscape photography. This is a limited edition print series. The image you purchase will be hand numbered and embossed. The edition range is /315. The image can be purchased as a print posted to you rolled in a tube or framed. There are several framing options, a classic black or white timber frame through to a new spinning frame which allows you to orient the image anyway you choose on a wall.
